The Washington County Landfill only collects used motor oil, hydraulic fluid, and transmission fluids from “Do-It-Yourselfers” and farmers. It is free of charge when brought to the landfill during regularly scheduled hours. Additionally, motor oil is accepted during Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days. We have a maximum amount of oil that we can accept per visit to the landfill, dependent upon which category you fall under.
This category applies to citizens who want to recycle their oil, but likely have few sources of attaining that oil. If you fit into this category, you can bring up to 5 gallons of oil per visit.
Farmers deal with a wide range of farm equipment and machinery that produces a fair amount of oil. Because of this, farmers can bring up to 55 gallons of oil per visit.
All fluid must be in a sealed container and will be inspected by a WCSW employee before deposit. No exceptions will be made.
The money collected from your recycling is given 100% back to the cities and towns that make up Washington County for community enhancement projects.
